HT ITALIA presents new SIGNALTEK cable performance verifier which can be used by datacomm installers, electrical contractors and the IT/network manager as a cost-effective means of verifying the bandwidth of installed data cabling. SIGNALTEK is a reliable, feature-rich, handheld cable tester with PDA-like navigation control. It offers the capability to speed test actual data transmission rates of up to 1 Gigabit (per IEEE 802.3ab). In addition, SIGNALTEK's integrated time domain reflectometer (TDR) can be used to locate faults on Category 3, 5, 5e and 6 cable as well as coax, telephone, security alarm and audio lines.
To verify bandwidth, SIGNALTEK establishes a 10/100/1000 Mbps link using twin Gigabit transceivers and transmits data packets across cable links to perform a full packet loss test. This simple 'pass/fail' test determines within seconds whether or not the cable link can support applications such as voice, VoIP, Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet. In addition to a quick performance test, SIGNALTEK users can also specify long duration tests to monitor link performance over several hours to isolate network problems that may not be directly related to the quality of the network cabling (such as?). TDR feature can be used to show cable lengths and distances to shorts, split pairs and opens. It can also inform technicians what device is at the end of a cable run, such as its own remote handset, a live network device or an open link. SIGNALTEK's intelligent autotest function then performs the correct test suite given the cables current termination configuration.
Thousands of test results can be stored on SIGNALTEK's internal memory. When transferred via a USB to a PC, the results can be analysed and customised to any format desired. Reports can be printed for a client's end-of-job documentation
